Fernie Full Throttle Freeride Festival
In August, TCD was invited to judge the Slope Style festivities at the second Fernie Full Throttle Mountain Bike Festival. Who can pass up a trip to Fernie? We jumped at the chance loaded up and forged a river to make it for one of the only Slopestyle comps in the neighbourhood. The course was creative and well put together, consisting of doubles, an old truck, a school bus, a large culvert, a banked wall ride and an extra large finishing jump that was both safe and hazardous.

The contest started at the crack of ten Saturday morning. The riders were taking it easy in the morning, getting their lines dialled and dealing with the wind and clouds of dust that above 30 degree temperatures in Fernie so often cause. After a couple hours of solid riding, some skinned faces and elbows and multiple energy drinks, deserved winners in junior and senior categories were crowned. TCD was left to enjoy the festivities and beer gardens in the village with day passes for Sunday warming our back pockets.
