Trail Crew Design Corp was very busy during the 2007 riding season, in both Alberta and British Columbia. Here is how it all went down...
Rabbit Hill – Edmonton
One of the most rewarding things about our job is going back and seeing our work, how it builds communities and fulfills peoples need for physical outlet. On one of our many trips back up to Grande Prairie we decided to pop into our previous years trail system and see how things were holding up.

Grande Prairie
In April TCD was contacted by a newly formed mountain bike club in Grande Prairie who were interested in converting their local ski hill, Nite Hawk, into a mountain bike park. TCD happily did what we could to help. First we flew into Grande Prairie to take a stroll around the site and meet the dudes responsible from the bike club and the ski hill. Two things that we noticed right away were the capability of Nite Hawk’s terrain to become an attractive mountain bike destination and that the ski hill was very interested in transforming a winter operation into a full season operation.

Outdoor Show
The 2007 Outdoor Adventure Show was back for another year, and this time with enough floor space to have some real fun on bikes. Trail Crew Design and a committed crew of dudes, bros, volunteers and an impressive list of sponsors such as Bowcycle, Mission Snow and Skate(and BMX), Urie Dog Bikes, Mountain Monkey Cycle, Yodo Distribution, NRG and Deity Components came together to put on a show, dubbed the Alberta MTBMX Freestyle Championships.

TCD will help open Alberta’s 3rd Bike Park
This year marks another milestone in Trail Crew Design operations. We have signed on to design and construct Alberta’s 3rd and largest gravity fed bike park at Northern Alberta’s Nite Hawk Resort. Nite Hawk is nestled in the Wapiti river valley just 15 minutes west of the town of Grande Prairie. In late April we flew into GP and spent time assessing the feasibility of creating a bike park on the banks of the Wapiti River...

Alberta MTBMX Championship
30 hours to build a track is something most people see as ridiculous. Yet every year we’re faced with the same dilemma. There’s always the "should'vs", but those have to be carefully weighed against the reality of time. We came up with a plan to build a track that would please the crowds and real back the riders to Calgary's season opening event, the Calgary Outdoor Show. I think we hit the mark this year with what Ken Dowdie of Mission Snow and Skate touted as "the best Outdoor Show ever!"

Looking Ahead - Spring 2007
The year is off to a fine start. We've been busy gearing up for the upcoming season. Overhauling bikes, polishing shovels and buying new tools. The focus now is towards April's Calgary Bike Expo. Things are looking good, we've got a ton of space and have plans for a killer course. The idea is to showcase Alberta's talent in both BMX and MTB.

We have deep routes in the street scene here in Alberta and the kids are killing it these days. We've designed a dirt skate park that will cater to both disciplines. A handful of riders will be invited to take part in a demo during peak times on the weekend. An open jam will also be held in which a second handful will be chosen to ride along side Alberta's best. With half the field MTB and half the field BMX you can be sure the show will be action packed.

We have developed a lot of interest and are securing a variety of sponsorship to bring swag and prizes for spectators and participants. If you're an industry company looking to get involved in helping create the best display of BMX and MTB in the country have a look at our
sponsor ship options and application. The Calgary Bike Expo is expecting upwards of 20,000 spectators to role through the door and you can be part of the action.
